Brian Zimmerman of Four Season Nursery in Traverse City will speak on Designing with Woody Ornamentals at the October 6th meeting of the Master Gardener Association of Northwest Michigan. The meeting will be a zoom presentation.

Mr. Zimmerman is the owner of Brian Zimmerman & Associates and Four Season Nursery in Traverse City. He is a third generation nurseryman, and worked for 25 years for the family landscape and nursery business before his passion led him to start his own business in 1996.  Four Season Nursery is 40 acres of rolling farmland in Leelanau County, just outside of Traverse City, with plant selections of trees, plants, shrubs, perennials, and grasses. They promote their trademarked program Plant Michigan/Plant Native, encouraging the use of native plants.

“We’re looking forward to having Brian talk with us because of his knowledge of woody plants in local landscape applications and wide experience in growing native plants, shrubs and trees.  Brian is also an excellent speaker who leaves us laughing as we learn,” says Michele Worden, President of the Master Gardener Association of Northwest Michigan.  “Adding woody plants to your landscape is key to four seasons of interest in your garden, and can provide important forage for wildlife.”
