Gardeners interested in starting their own garden plants from seed can learn more at the February 2, 2021 meeting of the Master Gardener Association of Northwest Michigan. Sue Newman will present the basics of seed-starting during an online meeting at 6:30 p.m.

Sue’s presentation will review the necessary equipment needed to start seeds, plus tips to improve a grower’s success rate from seed to transplant ready for the garden.

Sue Newman has been a Master Gardener for nearly 20 years, and is currently serving on the MGANM Board.  She currently works in the Admissions Department at NMC. She started growing her own garden plants from seed about 10 years ago in her southeast Michigan basement.  Since her move to Traverse City in 2015, Sue has been able to greatly expand her seed-starting operations after appropriating a section of her husband's workshop in the barn.
