We hope you can join us for the Annual Volunteer Recognition Event for Master Gardeners AND the Annual Meeting of MGANM.

In addition to Board elections and volunteer recognition, James Dake, Education Director at the Grass River Nature Area (GRNA) will speak about orchids and other rare plants in Northern Michigan.  James's photography brings life to his presentation.

James joined GRNA in February 2014 as the Education Director. James grew up in Flushing, Michigan and has studied science education at Central Michigan University and Western Michigan University. He is a certified teacher and holds a Master of Arts in Science Education. James has taught environmental studies and science in the classroom, as well as with nature centers and museums in Michigan and New York. He is the author of Grass River’s Field Guide to Northwest Michigan.  Along with teaching outdoors, his passions include backpacking, biking, photography, art, writing, and music. In the summer of 2012, James and his wife Lauren, rode their bicycles from Michigan to California, with their trip beginning in northwest Michigan. He is proud and happy to call this region his home.
