The selection, care and winterizing of shrubs for your yard will be the topic when Four Season Nursery owner Brian Zimmerman presents virtually to the Master Gardener Association of Northwest Michigan on April 5 at 6:30 p.m.

“Choosing shrubs for specific needs can be challenging.  The choices are numerous and range from flowering, fruit-bearing, and pollinator-friendly shrubs, foundation plantings and those with extural interest,” says program planner Donna Lane. “Brian brings his experience as a third-generation nurseryman to this presentation. In it he’ll touch on one or two favorite shrubs in each category and then wrap up the discussion by talking about the maple tree and how it offers four seasons of beauty and ecological service.” 

About the Presenter:

Brian Zimmerman is the owner of the Four Season Nursery on Harrys Road in Leelanau County. He has been involved in the nursery business his entire life. This long relationship with plants gives him the opportunity to visit many beautiful gardens and meet many gardeners. Brian believes the common thread that runs through all of us is nurturing, and his role is to help new gardeners see the beauty that nurturing plants can bring to their lives.
