Join MGANM members at the new Grand Traverse Regional Land Conservancy (GTRLC)  Mitchell Creek Meadows Nature Preserve facility on 3 Mile Road. Master Gardeners will receive a tour of the Conservation Center building itself, the native plant greenhouse, and also view the goat barn and stewardship workshop. The many green features of the buildings will be highlighted.

After the tour, GTRLC Volunteer Coordinator Erica DesJardins will lead MGANM members in planting native plugs into restoration areas around the Conservation Center.

Bring work gloves and footwear for mud to use in the restoration activity.  The hours at this event can be used to fulfill your MSU Extension Master Gardener education and volunteer hours in 2023.

Erica DesJardins, our tour leader and planting guide, is the Volunteer Coordinator at the GTRLC.  She earned her B.S. in environmental science from the University of Michigan, specializing in conservation biology. After graduating she served in several AmeriCorps positions across the country, including building trails on 14,000 foot peaks in Colorado, and teaching environmental science topics to third graders in New Hampshire public schools.
