Join us for a tour of TLC Tomatoes, a family-owned and operated farm in Sutton's Bay. TLC is a hydroponic farm; hydroponics is gardening without soil. TLC is an established 30 year operation that is currently run by Joe Vanderbusch and Anne Cunningham and their children. TLC's produce is grown in a carefully monitored mixture of water and nutrients provided directly to the plant's roots.
The farm has 3 greenhouses where they grow over 1500 tomato vines and several thousand heads of lettuce. The addition of a third greenhouse this year has allowed for increased production of Beefsteak, Cherry and Roma tomatoes as well as heirlooms and hybrids.
We will tour the greenhouses and learn the basics of hydroponic gardening. The onsite farm store will be open so guests can purchase everything grown on the farm and more.
TLC hydroponic operation and farm store is located on 4030 N. Setterbo Road in Sutton's Bay surrounded by beautiful gardens and acreage.
As Anne says, "The wonderful thing about hydroponic farming is that it's completely natural. No chemicals; just fresh air, water, nutrients and of course the sun. You can literally taste the difference."
Members and guests are welcome. There is a $20 fee to attend the tour which supports the hydroponic farm and MGANM.
